Retail Watch Focuses on Shopping Cart Ordinance at June 18th Meeting

June 11, 2018 CHICO, CA At the June 5th Chico City Council meeting, Police Chief Michael O’Brien was asked to bring the proposed Shopping Cart Ordinance to the Retail Watch group for discussion, prior to any Council action. The item will be on the Retail Watch meeting agenda on Monday, June 18th, from 10am – 11am at Oxford Suites in Chico.
Attendees must be affiliated with a retail business to participate. Retailers of all sizes and locations within Chico are encouraged to participate. The Retail Watch initiative was launched in February of 2018 by the Chico Police Department, Chico Chamber of Commerce, and Downtown Chico Business Association, for retail businesses in the Chico area. The initiative partners law enforcement with retail representatives in monthly meetings to discuss theft prevention, reporting and prosecution, state and local regulations, and best practices for identifying and reducing shoplifting in Chico. Meetings are open to retail owners, managers, employees, and loss prevention officers.
