Project S.A.V.E., a Chico based organization, stands for Salvage All Valuable Equipment. It recycles
medical and dental equipment and supplies then ships them to hospitals and clinics in need around the
world. To date 39 countries have been helped with over 78 20-foot containers plus large boxes.

Recently volunteers from Project SAVE started a great new endeavor of packing gift bags for new
babies and surgical patients to send along with overseas shipments. Maxine Rodgers volunteered to put
together bags for adults and Raedene Rogers gathers supplies for the little ones. These bags have been
used in mission trips to Peru and Vietnam and included in containers to New Guinea, Philippines, Belize,
Vietnam, Nigeria, and Uganda. Several months ago laparoscopic supplies were transported to Ecuador. A
father of 11 who lost a leg in a mining accident struggled to keep his family together, then a wheelchair
arrived. Three hundred young women have been rescued from prostitution and are being schooled and taught marketable skills with the arrival of sewing machines. The stories go on. Jubilation and cries of joys often accompany the arrival of containers or trucks.

Project S.A.V.E. was founded in 1996 by Dr. Phyllis Cullen. Janice Walker, a Chico resident, has been its
Director since 2004. She oversees 10 warehouses of equipment and supplies. How and why did she become
its director? What is the origin of this organization? How do you ship a 20 foot container – and how much does that cost? Can I use this organization – or contribute to it? Plus more.

Open to the public.
We’ll order lunch off the menu at noon. Program will begin at 1 P.M.
Please register to attend by February 24.
