Jim Goodwin was appointed President/Chief Executive Officer of the Chico Chamber of Commerce in October 1996, bringing 12 years of governmental affairs and economic development experience to the position.

 Prior to joining the Chamber team, he served on the staffs of two California State Senators.  He also served as the Executive Director of the Glenn Economic Development Corporation and as a Senior Project Manager for the Tri-County Economic Development Corporation based in Chico. 
Jim is a past Chair of the Superior California Chamber Executives Association (Superchex) Board, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Western Association of Chamber Executives (WACE).   Jim was awarded Accredited Chamber Executive (ACE) recognition in 2004.

Jim holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Science from California State University, Chico, and is a 2001 graduate of the U. S. Chamber’s Institute for Organization Management.

Peggy Sanchez, Special Projects ManagerTop of Page

Peggy was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Her family moved to Pomona, California when she was three years old, where they settled in for the next 18 years.   Peggy went to work right out of high school.  Soon thereafter, she met and married her husband Bill.     
           Prior to moving to Chico from Southern California in November 1980, Peggy worked for a printing firm for 6 years.  Her background also includes positions at General Dynamics plant in Pomona, California, where she received a top secret clearance enabling her to handle highly classified military documents in and around the plant.  In between jobs she was a stay-at-home mom. 
           Peggy started working at the Chico Chamber of Commerce on January 5, 1981 soon after moving to Chico.  What was supposed to be only two or three years, has turned into a 25 year career.  Peggy was honored in 2006 by the Western Association of Chamber Executives for 25 years of service.
           As Special Projects Manager, Peggy oversees the Chamber’s Annual Dinner, Golf Tournament, Business Showcase Tradeshow, Industrial Barbecue, Women’s Achievement Awards Celebration, AM Issues, and Golden Rose Award.  In addition to special projects, she also performs a number of administrative duties including Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and Annual Planning Conference.    
           During her Chamber career, Peggy was selected for inclusion in Who’s Who In America.  The Chico Enterprise-Record spotlighted Peggy in a special article when she turned over 10 years at the Chamber, which at that time was the longest anyone had worked at the Chamber!   Peggy and Bill have two grown children, Renee and “Mando,” and two spunky grandsons, Brandon and Bryce.

Vivian Goeller, Operations Manager; China Tour CoordinatorTop of Page

Vivian brings more than 20 years of experience in operational management to the Chamber.  She started her career in the insurance industry in 1984,  then joined the Chamber team in 1989.  She attended Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington and is a Merritt-Davis School of Commerce Graduate. 
           Vivian is responsible for the overall operations of the organization, including accounting, human resources, technology, purchasing and payroll. 
           She is a graduate of the 1996-1997 Leadership Chico Program.
           In her spare time, Vivian enjoys cooking, catering, and spending time with her family.  She and her husband, Paul, have been married for 38 years.  They have two children: daughter Andi, and her Leuitenant Commander (LTC) Navy husband, Glenn; and son Mark (and wife Maria)  who live in Seoul, Korea.

Alice Patterson, Communications & Marketing ManagerTop of Page

Alice was born and raised in San Carlos, California until 1983 when she moved to Chico to attend college. In 1998, after nearly a decade in the publishing industry as a writer and editor, she began her career at the Chico Chamber of Commerce as Communications and Marketing Manager.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from California State University, Chico, and a Minor in English.

Rebecca Martinez, Business & Visitors Services ConsultantTop of Page

Rebecca joined the Chamber staff in the year 2000 after a 13 year career at 3M Electronics where she was instrumental in technical and product training.  Her bilingual skills allowed her to travel to Mexico where she set up new product lines and assisted employees and supervisors in transition.  Rebecca was a Certified Auditor for ISO 9000 UL for 3M’s internal team before the company closed its doors in 1999.   Prior to working at 3M, Rebecca worked for Alkops Farms and Easter Seals.
           Rebecca is a Chico native, and graduated from Chico High School in 1980, and from the Butte College Administrative Assistant Program in 1999.     She is key to keeping the Visitor Center running smoothly.  Her customer relations and organizational skills make her a perfect fit for the Chamber team.
           In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys relaxing with family and friends, dancing, movies, theatre and music.

Catherine Beeghly, Member Services ConsultantTop of Page

Catherine holds a Master of Arts in English from California State University, Chico and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.   She is the founder of Chico Tours: Historic Downtown Walking Tours, has taught English at both CSU, Chico and Butte College, and was an editor and reporter at the Chico Enterprise-Record for more than 10 years.
           Catherine began working for the Chamber in 2002. She enjoys meeting new business owners and connecting them with the wealth of benefits and services the Chamber offers. She also finds it rewarding to see businesses grow, and helping them choose from the Chamber's new menu of sponsorship opportunities for 2006. Catherine "invented" the Platinum level of membership, giving businesses a third choice in the level of exposures they can enjoy in Chamber media.
            In her spare time, Catherine is actively involved in, and a supporter of, local theatre and is a member of the Chico Noon Exchange Club.

Tina Bratcher, Member Services ConsultantTop of Page

Tina joined the Chamber team as a member consultant in 2004.  She brings a wealth of knowledge about the local business community, having lived in Chico for the last 15 years as owner of Trends for Hair salon.  Tina also operates a second business as a beauty consultant for Mary Kay.

Joan Cabral, Member Services ConsultantTop of Page

Joan joined the Chamber Staff in the fall of 2006, and brings even more enthusiasm and energy to the Chamber team!   She has over 15 years in Direct Sales with Art Finds International Corp., Fit One Athletic Club and Holiday Inn-Chico.  She was an ambassador for the Chico Chamber of Commerce for 2 years and, last but not least, she has fulfilled her creative side with her own business, Design Layers, for 10 years as a Visual Merchandiser.  She also finds time to work with her husband and son in Cabral Construction for the last 30 years doing new homes and remodeling.  
She enjoys working with business owners, giving them the opportunity to network and build their relationships with the community, and enjoys golfing and skiing in her spare time.

Angie Cole, Administrative and Marketing AssistantTop of Page

Angie started at the Chamber as an intern for the Chico AirFest 2006.  After working for 3 months she was hired on full time as an Administrative Assistant & Marketing Coordinator.  Angie grew up in Walnut Creek, CA and moved to Chico in 2002 to attend California State University, Chico.  Angie graduated in 2006 with a major in Organizational Communications and a minor in Cinema Studies.  Her past jobs include Hollywood Video, Office Max, and night shift management positions at Jon & Bons, and Togos/Baskin Robbins. 
Angie loves watching movies, spending time with friends and playing with her cat Saki.

Amy Orr, Event Planner (CMP)Top of Page

Amy Orr joins the Chico Chamber of Commerce staff to assist with events, and to launch the Chamber's "Let's Celebrate!" Service.  Amy brings more than 10 years of experience in the professional event/ meeting planning industry. 

Prior to moving to Chico, Amy planned events ranging from 30 – 2000 in her position as the Director of Meetings and Events at the California Chamber of Commerce for five years.  In this role Amy was responsible for planning and implementing special events including: Board of Directors Meetings; Legislative Receptions; annual Business Legislative Summits; Business Luncheon Forums; annual conferences for Local Chamber Executives; and the Sacramento Host Breakfast which features the Governor as keynote speaker each year. 

She became a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) in 2005 and has also been an active member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) since 2001.  She currently serves as a board member of the Sacramento/Sierra Nevada Chapter of MPI.   She started her career in event coordination with the General Merchandise Distributors Council (GMDC) in Colorado Springs and upon moving to California, worked for the California Grocers Association for two years.  In 2007 she assisted in planning Chico AirFest, our annual air show at Chico Municipal Airport.

As the “Let’s Celebrate” coordinator, she will take the worry of event planning off of your shoulders and assist you in making your event a success!  With the combination of great promotion through the Chamber marketing avenues and a dedicated event planner, you won’t find an easier way to plan your celebration!

Daniel has volunteered for the Chamber of Commerce for the last 19 years!   Whether he's helping with our major events, making deliveries, or helping in our Visitor Services department, one thing's for sure: he's appreciated!
